William Mangrum age 90 passed peacefully surrounded by his beloved wife and daughters at the Pine of Burton on Friday November 25, 2022. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors Friday December 2, 2022 from 12:00-7:00pm at Hansen Funeral Home Downtown Davison.
William was born in Flint, Michigan on October 8, 1932 the son of the late William and Kathryn (Purdue) Mangrum. He graduated from Flint Central in 1950 and began a 4 year stint in the US Navy. When he came home he began his college years at Flint Junior College and graduated from University of Michigan with a Master Degree in Education. Bill was employed by the Carman School District as a teacher, a principal, and retired as Director of Personnel. He and Lila moved to their Northern Michigan "Golden Pond" and wintered in Florida. Bill was an avid golfer and hunter but was most known for his love of music and singing. He was well known in the Flint area as "The Music Man" and loved to sing and entertain.
He is survived by wife Lila of 67 years; daughters: Kathy Hartness (Phil), Jill Mangrum, Lynn Mangrum, Marcie deWolff, and Jennifer Jones (Craig) ; grandchildren: Kelly Fogelsonger (Jason) , Tracy Curtis (Jeff), Allison Hardin (John), Eric Wildfong, and Emma DeRosia; great grandchildren: Kaylee and Jeffery Fogelsonger, and Elliot and Beau Curtis.
