William "Bill" Ethier of Flint, age 87, died Sunday Nov. 13, 2016 at his residence. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday November 16, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison. Fr. Robert C. Bacik, Celebrant. Rite of committal will follow at St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 1-3 and 5-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home, with a parish rosary prayed Tuesday evening. Mr. Ethier will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am Wednesday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Bill's memory to St. John Catholic Church or Kindred Care Hospice. William was born in Flint Michigan on September 27, 1929 the son of the late; Harvey & Agnes (DeRocher) Ethier and has resided in the Flint area his entire life. He was joined in marriage to Rose Griffin on July 13, 1957. Answering the call of his country William served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Davison and Knights of Columbus Council #4090. Bill had been employed by Sears for over twenty years retiring in 1990. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Rose, children; Bill & Kathy Ethier, Steve & Doris Ethier, Pam & Bill Root, and Deborah & Bryan Illig. He also leaves his twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, his sister Patricia Vavra, and a host extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Charles Ethier.
