TINDER, Waneta Geraldine, of Flint age 102 died Saturday July 4, 2009 At Genesys Hospice Care Center, Goodrich. Honoring Waneta's wishes cremation has taken place with private burial on the family plot. Those desiring may make contributions to Genesys Hospice Care in her memory. Waneta was born in Pierceton, Indiana July 12, 1909 the daughter of the late; LeRoy & Alice (Tridle) Scoles and has resided in the Flint area since the 1930's. She was joined in marriage to Jean Tinder in 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 1967. Waneta's passion for reading and crosswords puzzles continued up to the final days of her life. She also was avid bridge player and truly enjoyed a good game. She had been employed by Flint Library System for over eighteen years retiring in 1971. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters; Roberta and husband Glen Tuck, and Susan Tinder-Edwards. Nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Waneta is preceded in death by daughter Shirley Smiddy and son John Tinder. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Helping Hands staff at Rosehaven Manor and the compassionate and caring staff of Genesys Hospice.
