Teryl "Teri" L. McCourtney

Teryl “Teri” McCourtney of Davison, age 78, died Saturday September 19, 2026 at McLaren-Flint. Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held for Teri and Dennis on Sunday October 4, 2026 from 1:00-4:00pm at Hansen Funeral Home Downtown Davison. Those desiring, may make contributions in Dennis and Teri’s memory to Cherryland Humane Society or Outreach East.

Teri was born in Traverse City, Michigan on May 12, 1948 the daughter of the late Louis Olson and Patricia and J. Charlie Stratton. She resided in the Davison area since 1974, when joined in marriage to Dennis McCourtney on October 26, 1974. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2021. Teri was a member of the Congressional Church in Suttons Bay. Teri loved the simple beauty of life. Whether she was tending to her garden, bird watching, solving puzzle books, or hosting a friendly game of cards, she brought a sense of home wherever she went. Above all, Teri was a natural caregiver-a mother to everyone she met, offering open arms, gentle wisdom, and unconditional love to all who knew her. Teri was a crossing guard for Davison Schools, a job she truly enjoyed.

She is survived by her children: Ruben McCourtney, Tara and husband Andrew “Bud” Custer; granddaughter: Emily Custer; brothers: Timothy Olson, and Tom and wife Carla Olson; sister: Cheri Stratton-Durdel; sister in law: Debbie Ferrigan, and host of extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother: Charlie Stratton Jr.; sister and brother in law: Lizbeth and husband Ed Hart; brother in laws: Wayne Ferrigan, and David Durdel.
