Stuart Paul Hastings of Burton age 79 passed away December 14, 2009 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Friday December 18, 2009 at 12:30 pm at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel Downtown Davison. Pastor Gary L. Beck officiating. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 4-8pm Thursday at the funeral home and Friday from 11:30 am until time of service. Memorial contribution can be made to the American Legion or to the family. Stuart was born on September 16, 1930 the son of the late George Hastings and May (Hubacher) Mr. Hastings he has resided in the Burton area the last 15 years. Stuart married Roberta "Bobbie" Murphy on September 12, 1951. Answering the call of his country Stuart enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving several tours in Vietnam, and retiring after 20 years in 1968. In civilian life, Stuart was a car salesman for many years in the Flint area. To cherish his memory is his loving wife Bobbie, daughter; Amber Bassham, sons; Stuart Jr. and wife Kaye Hastings, Steven Hastings, Timothy and wife LaDawn Hastings, and Dennis Eastman. Grandchildren: Kalicia, Megan, JoElle, Travis, Benjamin, Samuel, and Jasmine. Great granddaughter: Brooklynn "Buttons" Nielsen. Brothers: Edward and Clarence Utter. Son-in-law: Kurt Bassham, and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by sisters; Claire, Katie, Beverly, and brother Donald.
