Obituary

Shirley Ann Whitney of Mt. Morris, age 90, died Tuesday April 29, 2025 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday May 3, 2025 at Hansen Funeral Home, Downtown Davison, and Rev. Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating, with burial to follow in Thetford Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 2 – 6 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Shirley was born in Duluth, Minnesota on September 5, 1934 the daughter of the late Helmer and Ebba (Nelson) Floodstrom, and has resided in the area for numerous years. She was joined in marriage to the love of her life of over forty-six years Dale Whitney on August 24, 1957 in Duluth Minnesota and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2004. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Duluth. Shirley had a passion for BINGO, and loved to visit the local casinos. She enjoyed baking and spending time with family and creating memories of their many events.

She leaves her loving children: Terry Whitney, Brenda (Ray) Ducharme, Susan Whitney, Sharon Larman, Jay (Luanne) Whitney, and Craig (Kathy) Whitney, Surviving grandchildren: Gerald (Teresa) Darrell (Lauren), Sheila (Nate), Jennifer (Michael), Bryan (Dahye), and her ten great grandchildren. Shirley also leaves sisters: Betty Mueller, Barb (Len) Adamski, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
