IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shelly
Geigert
January 16, 1928 – July 17, 2025
Shelly Geigert of Davison, age 97, passed into the presence of her Lord Thursday July 17, 2025 at Americana Seniors of Davison. A private burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania January 16, 1928, the daughter of John and Marie (Anderson) MacNamara. She attended Ellis College Preparatory School, Newton Square, Pennsylvania. She married William Geigert August 28, 1948 in Philadelphia. She spent her early, family years in Pennsylvania. Then due to her husband's profession, moved to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maryland, and finally made Michigan their home since 1996. She enjoyed the traveling and the moving to new places. She worked in the insurance industry for her entire life, retiring as a Supervisor from Northwestern National Insurance Company (Towson, Maryland).
She is a member of Hadley Community Church, Hadley, Michigan. Always active in her churches, she served as Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and church choir member. Her life was characterized as a life of faith, beginning as a child by confessing her sins and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, and then daily living out her strong faith during sadness and joy, reading her Bible daily, studying her weekly Sunday School lessons, and finally, finishing her faith well. She also was known for her sense of humor, encouragement, and certainty of Eternal Life. Her final wishes were that all would have the same assurance of Eternal Life, as she did: "I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13).
Our family thanks the team at Americana Senior of Davison. For 10 years, they have cared for her. Especially in these last years they have gone way beyond our expectations. They checked to see her many times each hour. They assisted her to do what she gradually could no longer do for herself. They were proactive, alert, kind, loving, and listening and talking with Mom. They were there when she passed into the presence of the Lord. We cannot recommend this place more highly, why would she have remained for 10 years? We trust them. Integrity.
Our family thanks the team at Absolute Healthcare and Hospice. Highly recommended and proven record of accomplishment, we wish we had known them earlier. To avoid hospital visits, and have focused medical care, we engaged hospice November 2024. Just in time, the next month she needed them greatly. As she gradually declined, we came to know Angela, a premier nurse. She not only cared for Mom, but also for us. She explained to us what was going on. Angela adjusted her visits and frequency based on Mom's needs. Every day, five days, 1 day a week, whatever Mom needed. A woman with a deep heart of faith, hope, love, caring, medical knowledge, and experience. We absolutely recommend Absolute H & H.
Our family thanks Hansen Funeral home. A mainstay in Davison, we have known Jim Hansen for years. They helped us with Dad's funeral arrangements years ago. We were able to get a lot of pre-work done. Katie helped us finalize Mom's plans. They are so experienced during our time of pain and emotion. We trust them and they ALWAYS have done a wonderful job. They put our minds at ease, knowing that everything was taken care of. Timely, professional, compassionate. We can always count on them. Katie really took the stress away.
Finally, our family thanks Pastor Bruce Craner (Hadley Community Church), who with his wife, Donna, faithfully, regularly visited with her. Though not an official visitation pastor, he felt compassion on this widow and cared for her. He kept her up-to-date on her church happenings, and brought bulletins, Sunday School lessons and gifts from the Ladies Fellowship at Church. She was truly blessed by this couple. Thanks Pastor Bruce and Donna!
To cherish her memory, Shelly leaves behind her children: William Kenneth Geigert (Minnesota), Michael Allen (Donna) Geigert (Connecticut), and Richard John (Cheri) Geigert (Davison). She also lovingly leaves her loving grandchildren Jodie (Joshua) Garber (Ohio), Thomas (Aja) Geigert (Michigan); great-grandchildren: Gabriel Garber, Lily Garber, and Miles, Teagan Geigert; many nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends. Her beloved husband William of 70 years preceded her into the presence of her Lord and Savior. On their headstone epitaph the Lord Jesus proclaims, "Because I live, you also will live" (John 14:19). Also preceding her were parents John and Marie MacNamara; sisters: Catherine McGovern, Hazel Venable; brothers: William Carr and Roy MacNamara.
