Samuel W. Painter of Davison age 90 died Thursday March 10, 2016 at Stonegate in Lapeer. A funeral service will be held Monday March 14, 2016 at 11:00am at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel Downtown Davison. Rev. Sue Colavincenzo officiating with private burial at Davison Cemetery. Family will receive visitors Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contribution in Sam's memory to the Davison Historical Society. Samuel was born in Flint, MI on September 8, 1925 the son of the late Frederick and Jerusha (Winship) Painter and resided in the Davison area most of his life. He was joined in marriage to Donna Louise Pitcher on August 6, 1948 and she preceded him in death January 3, 2009. Answering the call of his country Sam served in the US Navy. Sam was active member of the Davison Historical Society, Kitchen School, and Brian House Hospice. Sam also owned and operated Greyloam Florist and worked numerous years at Perkins Florist. He leaves to cherish his memory daughter: Jeannie and husband Jack Wagner; granddaughters: Sarah and Samantha. He is preceded in death by brothers George Painter and John "Jack" Painter.
