Obituary

Russ Crafts of Davison, age 93, died August 20 2016, at The Pines of Burton. Russ was born in Davison on November 11, 1922, the son of the late Sarah and Morley Crafts and had resided in Davison his entire life. He was a graduated of Davison High School class of 1941.
He married Barbara Jean Alexander on January 13, 1950 in Angola Indiana. They were married for 59 years until her death in 2009. He told everyone who would listed that Barbie was "The best @#$% cook in Genesee County, maybe the State of Michigan" and continually extolled her many virtues.
Answering the call of his country Russ served in WW II where he was assigned to the last cavalry. After his service in the war, he attended and graduated from Michigan State University. He retired after a long career with Aetna Life and Casualty.
Russ was a avid golfer, especially enjoying a few rounds of golf and the 19th hole with his good friend, the late Red Baxter, at the Davison Country club. He also enjoyed building wooden model ships, playing euchre and bridge. Russ was very social. He enjoyed being with his friends and family and spending time at Whitey's and Madden's in Davison which was always home to him. He also was extremely loyal to his family, his friends, and his alma mater.
He is survived by his son Bruce Craig (Margaret) Crafts of Davison, daughter Beth Renee (Phil) Scarbrough of Marne, Michigan, grandchildren Stacy Crafts, Renee (Destin) Pewitt of Alto, Gary (Tara) Laug of Grand Rapids, Erin (Evan) Raden of Grand Rapids, and Ross Scarbrough of White Cloud; great grandchildren Trenton, Keirstyn, Kyleigh, Kaylyn, Gavin, Brekken, Rowan, Alyssa, and Jack; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings Wilma, Lionel, Ray, Dick, Jane, and infant brother and most recently his brother Maynard.
Russ has been cremated. There will be no services per Russ's request. Memorial are suggested to American Cancer Society of MSU. Please leave your memories and condolences for Russ's family at www.hansenfuneralhome.net
