Colthorp, Russell, A.

Age 85, died Saturday, April 25, 2020 at his home after a short battle with cancer.  A social distancing viewing will be held 11:00-2:30 PM at Hansen Funeral Home, Davison, MI.  A graveside service will be performed at Pine Grove Cemetery at 3:00 Pm for family only.  Pastor John Vannest will be officiating.  Russell was born in St. Louis, MI, on January 18, 1935, the son of Cecil and Ellen Colthorp.  Served two years in the U.S. Army.  He was joined in marriage to Lena May Britting on 8/4/1962.  Russell graduated from Wheaton College and retired from Hurley Medical Center, where he worked as an accountant.  He was passionate about genealogy and real estate.  He rehabbed dozens of houses over many years in the Flint area.  Russell was an active member of the Davison Free Methodist Church and a member of Gideons International for 26 years.  Surviving are his wife and 6 children, Ruth (Steven) Nichols, Audrey (Robert) Johnston, Christine (Daryl) Twist, Daniel (Kristina) Colthorp, Kathy (Joseph) Halabicky, Julie (Kevin) Kelly, 16 grandchildren, and two brothers, Grant & Cecil.  He was preceded in death by his brother Everett, and his granddaughter Jorianna Nichols.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.
