Robert (Bob) Emery Lawrence Jr., of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, age 82, passed away Friday October 17, 2025, surrounded by his family at McLaren-Flint Hospital. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Fr. Allen Mott Celebrant. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens (15264 M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI). Family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions in Robert's memory can be made to the Ball Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Robert was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on December 19,1942, the son of the late Robert Sr. and Alice (Trombley) Lawrence. He was joined in marriage to Carol McKerchie on August 26, 1961, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He returned to the Sault St. Marie, Michigan area from Flint, after his retirement from General Motors in 1997. Robert enjoyed the outdoors; spending his time hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and of course cutting wood. He also enjoyed playing cards, traveling, watching the Lions and Tigers play, and trips to the casinos. He was a jack of all trades and dropped everything to help anyone. He especially enjoyed hosting annual lake parties on Johnson Lake for his family and friends to gather for a day filled with family time, food and fun!
He leaves his wife of over sixty-four years, Carol, his children: Linda (Allan) Mondeau, Robert (Rebecca) Lawrence III, and Lori (John) Smith. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Amber, Crystal, Scott (Carolynn), Kaleigh (Blake), Cynthia, Kristin (Janson), Weston and great grandchildren: Emily, Sammy, Dawsen, Charlotte, Audrey, Kent, Parker, Rachel, Elin, Hadley and Carter. Robert also leaves his brother Ted (Connie) Lawrence, and a host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by brothers Romeo and John Lawrence.
