Richard Lee Dion of Genesee Township, age 70, died Thursday December 4, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday December 13, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 5199 Richfield Rd, Flint. Fr. George Puthenpeedika , Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 10:00 am Saturday until time of services. Richard was born in Alpena Michigan on June 29, 1944 the son of the late: Phillip & Sylvia (Socharcki) Dion, and has resided in the Flint area since 1960. He was joined in marriage to Doris Jean Zimmer on April 22, 1967. Answering the call of his country Richard served in the US Navy. Richard was an outdoor enthusiast and truly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. But his greatest love was his wife and children who he enjoyed the most. He was a very active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and had been employed by General Motors Buick Division for over 36 years retiring in 1999. He leaves his loving wife Doris, children; Kathleen and husband Raymond Gerding, Christina and husband James Conner, and Richard Dion. Also his grandchildren James & wife Brooke, Pamela & husband Scott, Daria, Danette, Kenneth, Christopher, and Alexis. Great grandchildren: Emily, Shaylee, Hunter, Olivia, Evan, Carter, and Gracie. Siblings; Gloria and husband Dave Lupo, Patricia and husband Patrick Cronk, Mary Schrier & Dave, Phillip Dion, Paul and wife Joan Dion, Robert Dion & Vickie, and a host of other relatives.
