Richard Joseph Bauer of Davison, age 93, died Saturday July 2, 2016 at Brookdale of Grand Blanc. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday July 7, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating with Rite of Committal to follow at St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 5 – 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Richard will lie in state from 10:00 am Thursday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Richard's memory to St. John Church Building Fund. Mr. Bauer was born in Gilman Wisconsin on February 17, 1923 the son of the late; Alois & Margaret (Fleischman) Bauer, and has resided in the Davison area since 1960. He was joined in marriage to Jean Preston on October 9, 1948 in Minnesota and she preceded him in death on May 29, 2015. Honoring his country Richard served in the US Navy during WW II. He was a very active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, he also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, and was very active in the Companions Camping Club. Mr. Bauer was employed by General Motors AC Spark Plug division until his retirement in 1985. Surviving are children: Susan & Jim Forro, Mary & Edward Francis Jr, Laurie & Don Garant, and also his grandchildren: Kristin (Brian), Gabriel (Fiance' Sandra), Everett, Kathryn, Mary Ellen(Matt), Donald James. His great grandchildren: Austin, Hunter, Lucas, and Lydia Jean. He is preceded in death brother Lawrence Bauer, and sister Helen Dourte. Share
