R. Peter Thompson of Lapeer and Gaylord age 82 died Sunday February 4, 2018 at his residence. Honoring Peter's wishes cremation has taken place no services at this time. Those desiring may make contributions in Peter's memory to the Shriner's Children Hospital or St. Jude's Children Hospital. Peter was born in Drayton Plains, Michigan on November 26, 1935 the son of the late Wayne and Estella (George) Thompson. Peter graduated from Clarkston High school in 1954. He continued in education until he received a Specialist in Education degree. Peter retired as Deputy Superintendent from Lapeer County I.S.D. in 1992 after retirement he and his wife Linda moved to Gaylord, MI and lived out his dream of golfing and they met many nice people and dear friends during their 22 plus years up there. Peter and Linda moved back to Lapeer on June 20, 2016 to be closer to family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years: Linda; children: Terry and wife Kim Thompson, Tom and wife Tracy Thompson, Susan and husband Peter Howard, Kevin and wife Tina Thompson, Michael Hubbert, and Karen and husband Bob Weir; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; brother: Patrick and wife Sue Thompson.
