Obituary

Norman Ellis Hovis Sr. of Metamora age 80 went home with Jesus on Wednesday August 14, 2013. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Monday August 19,2013 at Life Fellowship Chapel 2361 N. Irish Rd. Pastor Ty Woznek officiating, followed by Military Honors and burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 1-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Hovis will lie in state at the church from 11:00 am Monday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Norman's memory to the Gideon International or WMPC. Norman was born in Arcadia Michigan June 3, 1933 the son of the late; George and Elva (LeVee) Hovis and has resided in the Lapeer area since 1968. He was joined in marriage to Arlene Smith on April 7, 1954 in Ft. Knox Kentucky. Answering the call of his country Mr. Hovis served in the US Army during the Korean War. Norman was employed by General Motors Pontiac Truck & Bus Division for thirty-one years retiring in 1981. Mr. Hovis was a member of Life Fellowship Church,Wide Tracker,and Independent Shaklee Distributor. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Arlene, children: Norman Ellis (Gayle Marie) Hovis Jr., Pamela Sue (Jon Charles) LaFavor, and Jeffrey Gene (Karen Ann) Hovis. Grandchildren: Amanda Marble, Christy (Brian) Msal, Thomas (Autumn) Marble Jr., Matthew (Dianna) Marble, Heather (Harold) Davis, Leslie Marble, Daniel(Casey) Marble, John Marble, Paul Marble, Katie Schmitz, Issac Schmitz, Irish Schmitz, Amy Hovis, David (Tara) Hovis, Bradley (Jamie)Hovis, Bethany (Michael) Cooper, Michael LaFavor, Nathan LaFavor, Stephen LaFavor, Jonathon LaFavor, Noah Hovis, Hailee Hovis, Eli Hovis, and Olivia Hovis. Great grandchildren: Molly, West, August, Matthew Jr. Blake, Evielyn, Lydia, Kristina, Amelia, Mackenzie, and Bentlee. Sister, Jacqueline Greer. Brothers, Kenneth (Loretta) Hovis and Vernon (Kathleen) Hovis. He is preceded in death by parents,George & Elva Hovis, and daughter, Sherry Lynn Hovis Marble Schmitz.
