Neil Francis Huiskens 'Deacon Neil" of Zephyrhills Florida, formerly of Davison and Bay City died Tuesday November 12, 2013 in Florida. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday November 30, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison. Fr Andrew A. Czajkowski, and Fr. Douglas Osborn, Celebrants with Rite of Committal to follow at St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 10:00 am Saturday until time of services at the church. Those desiring may make contributions in Deacon Neil's memory to St. John Building Fund. Neil was born in Bay City Michigan on August 25, 1939 the son of the late: Francis & Vivian (Benthiaume) Huiskens, and had resided in the area for many years before retiring to Zephyrhills Florida. He was joined in marriage to Kathleen M. McFarland on November 28, 1964 and she preceded him in death on April 25, 2005. Answering the call of his country Neil served in the US Air Force. Neil was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and was ordained in 1984 as a Deacon for St. John Parish for many years. He also served as a Deacon for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Florida since 2006. Neil was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps League, and served as a volunteer for the Pasco County Florida Sheriff's Department. Neil had been employed by General Motors until he retired to pursue his other endeavors. Surviving are son James P. (Heather) Huiskens, daughter Jennifer M. Jorgensen, grandchildren; Alexandria Huiskens, Abigail Huiskens, Camren Jorgensen, Casen Jorgensen. Brother Robert and Sisters Ashley and Mary Lou. and a host of other relatives.
