Obituary

Naomi Arlene Hauglie of Richfield Township, age 89, died Friday December 17, 2021 at Durand Senior Care Center. Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday  April  21 2022 at Hansen Funeral Home Downtown Davison, Pastor Todd Frusti officiating. Private inurnment has taken place in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors from  12:00 noon until time of services.

Naomi was born in Flint Michigan on October 10, 1932 the daughter of the late Rudolph and Amy (Olson) Hauglie. Early in her life with her brothers; Ron, Wayne and Dale they helped their parents with the family bar and boarding house. Naomi always spoke of due the cleaning ,and  making beds. She attended Flint Community Schools and was a Graduate of Flint Central High Class of 1950. During her High School years Naomi was active on the swimming team and a cheerleader. She spent her summers as a life guard at Kearsley Park.  She continued to be a swimmer and was offered several scholarships to college to swim, but due to parental obligations she never continued. She and her partner Thelma Rosen spent over thirty years together, Naomi was an avid sports fan and a diehard Wolverine supporter while Thelma was a diehard Spartan fan which allowed for a lively game day. Naomi and her many friends would gather at the house for food and fellowship with the highlight being watching the Super Bowl.  She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and made numerous trips to Minnesota to visit relatives and share in their Norwegian traditions. She was employed by General Motors Ternstedt Division and later GM Truck Division for thirty years.

She is survived by special cousin Mary Grace McFarland of Swartz Creek, her good friends Scott & Jean Christie who patiently help her continue to live in her home. She also leaves her lifelong friends Jeanie Iverson, Kay Cousineau, friends; Jackie & Jack Grossnickel, Ann& Greg Semple, and a host of extended family and friends.
