Michael J. Macaulay, age 81, of Davison died Sunday July 3, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday July 9, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 6340 Roberta Dr. Burton, MI. Private burial will be held at a later date. Family will receive visitors from 1-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home, with a parish scripture service at 6:00 pm Friday evening, followed by a Knights of Columbus Memorial service at 6:30 pm under the auspices of Council #11532. Mr. Macaulay will lie in state at the church Saturday from 10:00 am until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Michael's memory to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or St. Vincent DePaul. Michael was born in Detroit Michigan December 9th, 1929, the son of Frank and Marquerite Macaulay, and moved to Flint in 1936. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and Knights of Columbus Council 11532. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was attached to the Marine Medic Division. Michael graduated from the first UM Flint Class in 1958, then migrated to California, where he worked for Dunn & Bradstreet. While there, he met and married his wife Marie Swoboda,who was also from Michigan, at St. Monica's Catholic Church in 1962, in Santa Monica, California. They moved back to Michigan in 1963, and he was employed as a teacher, retiring from the Flint Board of Education. Mike was involved in scouting leadership roles for troop 55 in the 1070s, he enjoyed reading, genealogy, woodworking, and was an avid bowler for most of his adult life, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. During the past two years, he wrote his life story and many short stories. He is survived by his spouse, Marie, and four children: Patrick of CA, David (Stacy) of Salt Lake City, UT. Robert (Melissa) of Lake Orion, MI. and Teresa Toth-Fejel (Tihamer) in Maryland. He has twelve grandchildren, Tony, Shannon, Kaitlyn, Devlin, Wren, Jaina, Sophia, Miriam, Stephen, Aidan, Sidney, and Breanna.
