Melvin Dale Williams of Flint, age 80, died Wednesday May 4, 2022 at McLaren-Flint Hospital. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.

Melvin was born in Pontiac Michigan on January 17, 1942 the son of the late Eugene and Mildred (Tennant) Williams and had resided in Pontiac for many years relocating to Flint in 1980. He was joined in marriage to Helen Wilson on July 1, 1968 and she preceded him in death on December 2, 2010. Answering the call of his country Melvin served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member and past Post Commander of Davison VFW Post 4087. Melvin had been employed by General Motors Cadillac Division until his retirement in 1992. He also had been employed by the US Postal Service in Pontiac and later retiring from the Flint Post Office.

Surviving are sons: Scott and wife Shelly Williams, Lance Williams, daughter Lynnette and husband Mike Halley, and his eight loving grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters: Judy (Charlie) Higdon, Bonita (Jalene) Williams, and a host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by granddaughter Isabella Williams.
