Melvin Andrew Hergenreder of Davison, age 88, died Tuesday March 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. No public services are being held. Private burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions in Melvin's memory to the Lighthouse Lutheran Church, 8786 N. Business 31, Pentwater, Michigan 49449.
Melvin was born in Caro Michigan, the son of the late Andrew and Helen (Witkovsky) Hergenreder and has resided in the Davison area for many years after spending many of his retirement years in Pentwater. Melvin was a member of the Lighthouse Lutheran Church and was active in the designing and building of that church.
Answering the call of his country, Melvin proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Jeanne Swick. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had been employed by General Motors for over thirty-four years retiring in 1986.
Melvin leaves his wife of sixty-five years Jeanne, his loving children; Wanda (Noel) Hunt, Randy (Debbie), Brian, Roger (MaryAnn), and David. He also leaves his eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, brothers: Jim (Lorraine), Howard, and Richard (Marty). Melvin is preceded in death by brother Floyd, and sister-in-law Marie.
