Obituary

Melbourne Atwood Pepper of Sears, MI age 94 passed away Wednesday May 26, 2010 at Brian's House Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday May 28, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison. Fr. Andrew Czajkowski officiating, followed by burial in Danby Cemetery, Mulliken Michigan at 4:00pm Friday. Family will receive visitors from 4-8pm on Thursday May 27, 2010 evening at the funeral home. A parish rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm Thursday evening. Mr. Pepper will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am Friday until time of service. Those desiring may make contribution in Mel's memory to St. John Church, Brian's House, or Kidney Foundation or the charity of your choice. Melbourne was born in Sampter Twp., Michigan January 3, 1916 the son of the late Glenn and Carrie (Jewell) Pepper and has resided in the Sears area since the 1960's. He was joined in marriage to Arlene King April 24, 1956. And she preceded him in death April 19, 2010. Mel and his wife owned and operated the Pepper's Sinclair Gas and Service Station in Addison for many years. He leaves to cherish his memory children; Joseph Pepper, Jane and husband Lewis Franta, and Joe and wife Mildred Sumner, 34 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren, brother Bernie Pepper and a host of other relatives. He is preceded in death by his sibling Doreen, Rudy, Orlyn, Larry, and Mickie.
