Obituary

Marvin Andrew Smith,of Davison formerly of Mt. Morris age 70, died Saturday December 10, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday December 13, 2011 at the Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Rev. Joe Hall officiating, burial in St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 1-4 & 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Marvin was born in Flint Michigan on September 25, 1941 the son of the late; Vester & Phylista (Schuster) Smith. Marvin had resided in the Mt. Morris area most of his life, spending the last several years in Davison. He was joined in marriage to Lois Mitchell July 14, 1982; answering the call of his country Mr. Smith served in the US Marine Corp for eight years during the Vietnam War. He was an active member of the Corunna Rd. Baptist Church, and Marine Corps. League Det. #155. Marvin was a avid outdoorsmen and participant of the Crim Races. He had been employed by the US Postal Service for thirty-two years retiring in 1992. He presently was a twenty year employee of Graff Chevrolet. Surviving are wife, Lois, daughter Elizabeth and husband Rev. Joe Hall, granddaughter Lindsay and husband Jeremy Krebs, and a future great grandchild. Sisters: Ruth and husband Roland Baker, and Rose Sloat. Brother-in-laws: Craig Mitchell, Scott Mitchell, and Brent Mitchell. Sister-in-laws: Kathryn Mitchell, and Barbara Mitchell, numerous nephews and nieces, and also his extended families at the Corunna Rd. Baptist Church and Hank Graff Chevrolet.
