Obituary

Marilyn Moffatt, Wyczalek, Estep, Koerber of Burton, age 88, died Sunday April 7, 2019 at Ascension – Genesys Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday April 13, 2019 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors from 2 -8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions in Marilyn's memory to the charity of your choice.

Marilyn was born in Flint Michigan on June 11, 1930 the daughter of the late Wyman & Frances (Smith) Moffatt and has resided in the Burton area most of her life. She was joined in marriage to Richard Wyczalek in 1951, she later married Marvin Estep in 1964 and he preceded her in death in 1986. She was joined marriage to Clarence Koerber in 1987 and he preceded her in death in 1989. Marilyn graduated from Flint Northern High School, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority (Gamma Phi Chapter), she had been involved with the Bentley Band Booster and a member of  the Flint Sail and Power Squadron Auxiliary for over fifty years. Marilyn continued her support in the community as a member of Burton Fire Department Auxiliary for over forty years, she served has a Girl Scout Organizer and Leader for ten plus years, and was the first women to hold the key to the City of Burton. Marilyn enjoyed Bowling and Boating and was an avid Quilter.

Marilyn was a lady of community service haven been elected the first woman of Burton City Council in 1973, serving on the Burton City Planning Commission. She was very talented person and spent time as a seamstress and tailor, she enjoyed being the top salesperson for Flint Memorial Park during her employment there. She also owned and operated the Firehouse Lounge for over ten years.

Surviving are children: Phyllis (Bennett) Sevack, Douglas (Shiela) Wyczalek, and Stephen (Rhonda) Wyczalek. She also leaves her grandchildren Matthew Wyczalek, Sara Wyczalek, Justin Ellison, and Rebecca Wyczalek. Also surviving are step-children Clarence (Sharon) Koerber, Patrick (Cathy) Koerber, James (Maureen) Koerber, and Jacqueline (Scott) Beutler. Also her step-grandchildren Ginger Canup, Chad Estep, Suzette Duncan, Yvette Johnson, Suzanna Brown, Janae Fear, Caralee Koerber, Kelly Schenk, Jordan Koerber, Kyla Koerber, and Nicholas Koerber. Marilyn also leaves twenty-three great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; siblings: David Moffatt, and Janet Warrington. She is preceded in death by siblings: Lynn Moffatt, Audrey Moffatt-Rogers, and Audene Moffatt; step-children: Martin Carl Estep, James Estep, and Mary Jean Koerber.
