Mariam Dowling of Davison, age 85, died Saturday November 18, 2023 at her residence. Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday November 25, 2023 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison, with Denise Bosworth officiating. Family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon Saturday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Mariam's memory to Genesee County Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Mariam was born in Detroit Michigan on January 5, 1938 the daughter of the late:  Mageed and Josephine (Salaney) Elkouri, and has resided in the Davison area the last twenty-five years. Mariam enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Mariam loved her two cats Danny and Dora. Mariam loved to read, go for walks, and loved to shop. Mariam was always there for support and kind words for anyone in need. Mariam received a Master of Social Work degree when she was 50 years old and worked as a therapist for the next 30 years. Mariam loved her job and retired at 80 years old. Mariam will be remembered for her love and kindness to others.

Mariam leaves to cherish her memory daughter Lisa Barber, sons: Thomas Connell, James Connell, and Dennis Connell. She also leaves her loving grandchildren: Sean Barber, Josiah Connell, Leah Connell, Emmanuel Connell, and Brittany Ebelt. Her surviving brothers: Elias Elkouri, James Elkouri, and a host of extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her siblings Jeannette Connell and Eissa  Elkouri.
