OBITUARY
of
Margaret Rose Zirnhelt
Born November 25, 1913 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to Peter and Mary Kraft, Margaret Kraft married Wilbert Zirnhelt on August 4, 1939 in Bear Creek, Pennsylvania before moving to New York City where their first three children Peter, Judith Ann (Washburn) and Susan (Frazier) were born. Moving to Davison in 1946, they resided at the corner of Kitchen and South State Roads where their twin son's William and Robert and later son Timothy were born. Through the years Margaret and Wilbert parented 64 foster children, two of which, Michael and Judith Madaj (Vaughn), were raised by them to adulthood. Margaret through the years served as den mother in the Cub Scouts, neighborhood reporter for the Davison Index, a long time bowler at Rollaway Lanes and devoted officer and member of the Legion of Mary. A member of St. John Catholic Church since Margaret and Wilbert's arrival in 1946, all of the Zirnhelt children attended St. John School. Margaret departed this life on July 14, 2010 at Sterling House in Davison at the age of 96 and was preceded in death by Wilbert in 1998 and by Michael in 2002. Margaret is survived by seven children: Peter (Diane O'Donnell) of Traverse City, Judith Ann (Bob Washburn), Susan (James Frazier), William (Zip) (Vicky Haneline), Robert (Elizabeth Wittbrodt) and Judith Vaughn all of Davison and Timothy (Janell Hempton) of Lapeer; 23 grandchildren: Anthony, Gregory and Eric Zirnhelt (Peter); Bridget (Sova), Jeffrey and Rebecca Baumbach (Judith Ann); Michelle (Mounteer) and Stephanie (Hempton) McClain (Susan); Shaun, Travis and Tyler Zirnhelt (William); Teresa (Quinn), Robert and Bradley Zirnhelt (Robert); Jillian, Jolynn and Thomas Zirnhelt (Timothy); Ann Margaret, Robert and Jason (Judith Vaughn); and Kimberly, Melissa and Chad Madaj (Michael); 26 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.Daughter - law; Janet Madaj Lieffers Services are being administered by Hansen Funeral Home of 421 N. Main St., Davison with visitation Saturday July 17 at 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday July 18 at 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rosary and Wake at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 19 at St. John Church with Reverends Andrew A. Czajkowksi and Denis R. Spitzley officiating, with visitation at the church one hour in advance. Memorials may be addressed to the Legion of Mary or St. John Christian Service, c/o St. John Church, 404 N.
