Leroy Walter Campbell – age 95 of Flint, formerly of Farwell, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Oasis Assisted Living in Clio. He was born on September 23, 1930, the son of Walter and Florence (Frizzle) Campell on a farm in St. Clair County, Crosswell, MI. Leroy was one of eleven children. He graduated from Yale High School and served in the US Marine Corps. Leroy married Marietta Coker on May 8, 1953, in Avoca, MI. She preceded him death after 44 years of marriage on January 29, 1998.

Leroy enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, canoeing, hiking, and participating in Boy Scouts which included organizing hiking across the State of Michigan. Spending time with his large family and all the organized events was a family tradition. Leroy was a member of UAW Local 599. He retired from Buick Motor Division in 1981and moved to Farwell where he and Marietta operated The Ceramic Mouse House until her death. He worked part time at the Campbell Stocking Funeral Home (formerly, Coker Funeral Home). He met Alice Patras in 1998, who became his significant other and they also traveled around the 50 states. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2020.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons: Paul and wife Janet Campbell of Farwell, Robert and wife Carleen Campbell of Beaverton, and Jimmy and wife Christine Campbell of Flint; eight grandchildren: Amanda (Kevin) Barrett, Daniel Campbell, Chad Campbell, Matthew (Lisa) Campbell, Jennette (TJ) Ferrill, Malyn (Rob) Campbell-Greene, Brooke Campbell, and Laura (Derrick) Brown; eleven great grandchildren: Jacob Barrett, Alex Barrett, Alayna Campbell, Addyson Campbell, Charlotte Ferrill, Bryce Campbell, Olivia Campbell, Penelope Campbell, Mackenzie Brown, Ava Brown and Elizabeth Greene; sister in law: Gladys Campbell, and, numerous nephews and nieces.

Leroy was also preceded in death by eight brothers: Herbert, Albert, Orville, Thomas, Elmer, Clayton, Allan, and Richard Campbell; two sisters: Lucy Sheldon, and Fran Cummings.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and on Monday, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 9, 2026, at Hansen Funeral Home, 421 N. Main St., Davison, MI. Pastor Pete Scribner of Calvary Presbyterian Church will officiate, with private burial at Tanner Cemetery in Genesee Township. Those desiring to make contributions in Leroy’s memory may make them to Residential Hospice.
