Obituary

Kenneth Dale Simmonds of Frankenmuth formerly of Goodrich, age 78, died Friday September 13, 2019 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday September 16, 2019 at Frankenmuth United Methodist Church 346 E. Vates St, Frankenmuth Michigan, Rev Ryan Lee Wenburg officiating, with private burial in the Millington Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 3 -8 pm Sunday at the Hansen Funeral Home, Downtown Davison. Dale will lie in state at the church from 12:00 noon Monday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Dale's memory to American Hospice Care of Saginaw.

Dale was born in Flint Michigan on July 27, 1941 the son of the late Kenneth & Gynith (Grimmett) Simmonds, and had resided in Goodrich for many years. Upon retirement he relocated to Florida for over 15 years, returning to Frankenmuth in recent years. He was joined in marriage to Janet Nyswaner on August 6, 1960 at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene in Otisville, Michigan. Dale enjoyed and was an avid softball player especially during his years in Florida. He and wife Janet traveled the United States in their Motor Home, and even traveled to several countries overseas. Dale was a true neighbor to all folks in his retirement area helping them with chores, odd jobs, and his handyman skills, his community pride made him the "Mayor" to all his friends and neighbors. Dale maintained his faith and beliefs and attended the Frankenmuth United Methodist Church. He had been employed by General Motors Orion Plant until his retirement in 1992.

Surviving is his wife of fifty-nine years Janet, sons; Randy and wife Jayme Simmonds, Jeff and wife Tracy Simmonds, and Gary Simmonds and wife Becca Graham. He also leaves his loving grandchildren; Samantha Woodbeck, Sean Brigham, Jordan Simmonds, Shelby Simmonds, Logan Simmonds, Riley Simmonds, Samantha Graham, Zach Graham, Ian Moir, and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings; Jerry and wife Audrey Simmonds, Karen Ward, and a host of extended family. Dale is preceded in death by son Alan Dale Simmonds in 1962 and sister Marlene Simmonds-Bearup in 2011.
