Karen Sue Winford of Grand Blanc, age 72, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at her residence.
Karen was born in Flint, Michigan on October 24, 1952 the daughter of the late Edward and Ann (Talaska) LaBrecque and has resided in the Grand Blanc area the last thirty-one years spending her earlier years in Flint. She was joined in marriage to Robert "Bob" Winford II on December 29, 1984. Karen enjoyed reading, spending time in nature, and crocheting, but her real love was spending time with her granddaughters, Penelope and Adeline. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a beloved teacher at Holy Rosary Catholic School until her retirement in 2011.
Surviving is husband Robert, children: Allison and husband David Smith, Robert and wife Tanya Winford III, and Matthew Winford. She also leaves her loving eight grandchildren, brother: Michael and wife Janet LaBrecque, sister Sally and husband Guy Greaves, and a host of extended family and friends.
Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday November 13, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 5191 Richfield Rd. Flint, Fr. Roy Horning, officiating. A gathering time of family and friends will be held from 3-7 pm Tuesday at Hansen Funeral Home, Davison. Family will receive visitors from 10:00am until time of service at the church Wednesday. Those desiring may make contributions in Karen's memory to Medical Team Hospice.
