Jonathon L. Thurman, affectionately known to those who loved him as “Dude,” of Saginaw, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the age of 45 at McLaren-Lapeer. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Jon spent his final moments surrounded by the family who loved him beyond words.Though our hearts are broken by his loss, we are grateful that he was not alone and that he was held close by love as he found peace. In accordance with Jon’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no public services are planned at this time.

Jon was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on February 23, 1981, to Kenneth Thurman and Mary Knight, and he spent most of his life in the Saginaw area. Jon was so much more than the things he enjoyed—he was a gentle soul, a curious heart, and a comforting presence in the lives of those around him. His unforgettable smile, wonderful sense of humor, and quick wit had a way of bringing light and laughter into even the most ordinary moments. He found genuine happiness in the simple things: playing video games, watching anime, gathering with family during the holidays, cooking, discovering local cuisine, listening to music, traveling for his job, spending time with his friends, and supporting the local businesses that made his Saginaw community feel like home. These were not simply his interests; they were pieces of the person we knew and loved. Jon’s kindness came naturally, and the warmth he shared made people feel welcome and cared for.

Those who knew him will miss his laughter, his smile, his humor, and the quiet, irreplaceable way he made life better simply by being in it.Jon leaves behind the family who will carry his love and memory with them always: his father, Kenneth Thurman; his sister, Jennifer Thurman; his nephew and niece, Isiah House and Alexandria Knaub; his great-nephew, Malachi; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Knight, on June 15, 2025. Losing Jon leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express. His life ended far too soon, and there will always be moments when we wish we could hear his voice, see his smile, share one more laugh, or simply have one more day with him. Yet even in our sorrow, we will hold close the love he gave us and the memories that can never be taken away. Jon will remain a treasured part of our family, woven forever into our hearts and into the stories we will continue to share. He was deeply loved, he will be profoundly missed, and he will never be forgotten. Please share your condolences at www.HansenFuneralHome.net.
