Obituary

John Robert Slater of Davison, age 77, died Saturday March 16, 2019 at his residence with family at his side. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place no public services are being held. Those desiring may make contributions in John's memory to the Shriners' Children's Hospital.

John was born in Flint Michigan on May 27, 1941 the son of the late Arnold & Ada (Nichols) Slater and has resided in the Davison area for the last fifty-five years. He was joined in marriage to Karen Fay Carter on February 11, 1961. John proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. John loved the outdoors and was a member of the NRA, Trout Unlimited, Fly Fishers International and the North American Hunting Club. He was a proud to be a Mason and was a member of Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Mason of Michigan #236, Eastern Star # 138, and Genesee Valley Commandery - Knights Templar #15.  John true love was fly fishing and big game hunting, he had hunted in South Africa, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Kansas, Wyoming, and Colorado. He enjoyed the home waters of the Au Sable River, the Madison River in Ennis Montana, and Islamorada Florida Keys. His career spanned over forty-seven years as a part owner of Flint Warm Air Supply Company.

He leaves his loving wife of fifty-eight years Karen, his children; Kyle "Bob" and wife Tammy Slater, Steven and wife Melissa Slater, and daughter Angela Brown. He also leaves his loving six grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by son-in-law Doug Brown. Please share your condolences at www.hansenfuneralhome.net
