John "Jack" Franklin Shorey, of Davison age 84 died Friday December 31, 2010 at Kelley Manor Assisted Living. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday January 5, 2011, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Fr. Andrew Czajkowski officiating. Burial in Davison Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 1-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. "Jack" will lie in state on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 am until time of services. Those desiring may make contribution in John's memory to Adopt a Pet or Alzheimer Foundation. John was born in Flint Michigan February 28, 1926 the son of the late; Arthur and Etta (Smith) Shorey and has resided in the Davison area most of his life. Answering the call of his country he served in the US Army Air Corp. during WW II. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Davison, served on Davison City Council for ten years and numerous municipal committees and boards. A member of the UAW, and had been employed by General Motors Pontiac Division for over twenty-nine years retiring in 1988. He is survived by daughters; Susan and husband Michael Keefe, Sandy and husband Glenn Petersen, Judy Shorey, and son John and wife Suzanne Shorey. Grandchildren: Jim, Lindsey, Rachel, Jacob, and mother of his children Rosemary Glynn, and a host of other relatives. Special friend: Jackie Vandesteene. He is preceded in death by sister, Norma Belford, Betty Edick, Lee Anderson, Ellen Perry, Marion Meredith, and brother, Arthur "Buster" Shorey.
