Joan Marie Taeckens of Flint formerly of Davison age 68 passed on to a better place on Tuesday April 9, 2019. Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place.  Burial at Sunset Hills on the family plot will take place at 12:00 noon Tuesday April 30, 2019, Fr. Andrew a. Czajkowski, officiating. Those desiring may make contributions in Joan's memory to the Genesee County Humane Society. Joan was born in Flint, Michigan on July 7, 1950 the daughter of the late Robert M. and Esther Ruth (Stillwagon) Taeckens, and has resided in the Davison area for many years. Joan graduated from Flint St. Mary's and worked in the retail field for Green Scotts before Joan was suddenly struck with partial blindness in 1977, which led her to earn her degree from U of M in Business Management and Public Administration. Joan was employed by the State of Michigan as supervisor for the State Commission for the Blind, the Business Enterprise Program, for eight years before her own disability caused her premature blindness in 1996. She survived by sister: Susan (Gene) Senski of Cheboygan, Michigan and a host of extended family and friends. Joan is preceded in death by brother: William Taeckens.
