Obituary

Jerry Melvin Beaty, age 97 of Davison, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at his residence, with his loving wife by his side.  Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place.  No public services are being held.

Jerry was born in Jonesville, South Carolina on May 5, 1925.  He is the son of the late Jeremiah and Rosa (Smith) Beaty, and has resided in Davison since 1954.  He was joined in marriage to Judy Pringle-Sumner, on July 22, 2010 in Davison.  Jerry served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy.

Jerry earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degree while he proudly attended South Carolina State University.  He was also a proud Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity brother.  He was an avid lover of cars and belonged to the Model  A Club, Buick Club, and the El Camino Club.  Jerry was a great hunter and hunted in Africa multiple times, and was a member of the Safari Club International.  He also loved dogs, and always had beagles and a German shepherd, and was a member of the Eastern Michigan Beagle Club.  He was employed by Flint Community Schools and taught Architectural Drawing and Drafting.  He taught at Northwestern High School until his retirement in 1991.

He is survived by his wife Judy, and his children:  Scott, Eric (Indre).  Stepchildren:  Michelle (George), Michael, Andrew (Jessica).  He also leaves nine loving grandchildren:  Jonathan, Jerry, Morgan, Maddie, Erica, Ava, Zach, Ashley and Lucas.  He leaves two sisters; Rubye Glenn and Mildred Smith, and one brother John Beaty.  Jerry also leaves a host of extended family and special friends, and he was preceded in death by two sisters; Lottie Beaty and Thelma Anderson.
