James Albert Stewart of Burton, age 84, died Saturday November 16, 2019 at Maple Woods Manor, Clio. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday November 20, 2019 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Son:  Rev. Ted Stewart officiating with private burial in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors from 11:00 am Wednesday until time of service. Jim was born in Flint Michigan on December 30, 1934 and was the son of Guy & Vernon (Highley) Stewart and had resided in the Burton area since 1967. He was joined in marriage to Aretha J. Rose on September 4, 1954 and she preceded him in death on April 23, 2012. He was a member South Baptist Church of Flint and actively served on numerous boards and activities of the church. Jim was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1953, and in later years enjoyed coaching and officiating in many Sporting Events in Genesee County. Jim showed a passion for Big Brothers and had been recognized by the organization for support. He enjoyed his time with family camping and was an avid deer hunter. Jim was employed by General Motors Truck & Bus Division retiring in 1986. He continued to work after his retirement in the funeral industry at several funeral homes and funeral professional services with respect and support to the families he served.

Surviving are sons: James and wife Mona Stewart, Rev. Ted and wife Susan Stewart, and John and wife Janelle Stewart. He also leaves his grandchildren; Jennifer and husband Ryan Dodgson, Hannah Stewart, Taylor Stewart, Carl Allen, and a host of extended family.
