James Arthur Pettey of Clio, age 87, died Friday March 21, 2025 at his residence. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. No public services are being held. Those desiring may make contributions in Jim's memory to the Alzheimer Foundation.

James was born in Flint Michigan on March 7, 1938 the son of the late Aaron and Dorothy (Pilley) Pettey and spending most of his life in Genesee County and some in Wildwood Florida.  He was joined in marriage to Phyllis E. Belt on October 5, 1989. Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors and was an avid golfer. He had been employed by DuPont Corporation for over thirty five years retiring in 1998.

Surviving is wife Phyllis, children: Michael (Tammy) Pettey, Craig Pettey, Kathleen (Henry) Sherwood, and his step-children: Jennifer (Richard) Cullen, and Brian (Sarah) Agle.  He also leaves his grandchildren: Arika (Nick) Lakey, Ryan (Aubrey) Pettey, Aaron Pettey, Charlie, Alice, Krystal (Neil) Gupton, and great grandchildren: Nathaniel, Kaydence, Rylee, Nora Faye, Harrison James, and Grayson William; surviving sister, Karen (Richard) Burroughs, and a host of extended family and friends.
