James Floyd McConnaughey of Davison age 88, died Saturday December 18, 2010 at Brian's House Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 12;00 noon Thursday December 23, 2010, at the Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Pastor Bob Miller officiating , burial in Richfield Union Cemetery. Family will recieve visitors from 1:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, those desiring may make contributions in James's memory to Brian's House Hospice. Jim was born in DeKalb, Illinois August 30, 1922 the son of Charles & Verna (Cruzen) McConnaughey and has resided in the Davison area the last eleven years, spending most of his life in the Pontiac - Waterford area. James was joined in marriage to Darlene Brockman November 27, 1947 in Union Lake Michigan and she preceded him in death August 16, 1999. Answering the call of his country Jim served in the US Army during WW II where is recieved 2 purple hearts and several bronze stars. He is a member of Davison VFW Post #4087, and DAV Chapter #3. He was employed by General Motors, Pontiac Division for over thirty two years retiring in 1975. James leaves to cherish his memory childen; Jim and wife Marty McConnaughey,and Cindy and husband Bill Brian. stepdaughters; Sandra Noskey and Diane Sparks. Grandchildren; Sandra, Rick, and Angie, six great grandchildren. Brothers; Lloyd, Carl, and Charles McConnaughey, and a host of other relatives. He is preceded in death by brothers, Ray and Andrew McConnaughey and sister Irene Stephens.
