James Donald Hazel of Davison Township, age 77, died Sunday May 18, 2014 at his residence. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday May 21, 2014 at the Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Private burial at Flint Memorial Park will be held at a later date. Family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm Wednesday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in James's memory to Genesys Hospice or the charity of your choice. James was born in Dawson Springs Kentucky on January 14, 1937 the son of the late: Ottis & Mabel (Hamby) Hazel and has resided in the Davison area since 1966. He was joined in marriage to Rachel LaRocque on June 22, 1957 and she preceded him in death on January 5, 2009. James was employed by GMI/Kettering University until his retirement. He leaves to cherish his memory: Debi (Stu Selesky) Hazel, John Hazel, Don (Laura) Hazel, Peggie (Dave) Brzezowski, and Tom (Lori) Hazel. Grandchildren: Keith (Rachele) Hazel, Seth (Kristin) Prieur, Tony Prieur, Lindsey Prieur, Frank Isaia, Kristina (Chad) Congdon, and Aaron Hazel. Great Grandchildren: Wyatt Hazel, Sadie Prieur, Ellie Hazel, Trevor Congdon, and Dominic Isaia. Sisters: Sue Brantley, Karen Newbauer, and a host of other relatives.
