Jack William Whitman of Davison age 90, died Friday April 17, 2015 at McLaren- Lapeer Regional. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday April 21, 2015 at Hansen funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Pastor Glenn Teal officiating, burial to follow at Goodrich Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 1-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions in Jack's memory to Davison Free Methodist Church Youth Programs. Jack was born in Flint Michigan on June 27, 1924 the son of the late; William & Artie (Remington) Whitman and has resided in Davison most of his life. He was joined in marriage to Helen Long on August 27, 1945 in Montrose Michigan and she preceded him in death on November 19, 2002. Answering the call of his country Jack served in the US Army-Air Corp during WW II. He was a member of Davison Free Methodist Church, and a life member of Davison VFW Post 4087. He was employed by General Motors Buick Division for over thirty years retiring in 1976. Jack's second career was an employee of Davison Community Schools for over twenty-one years retiring in 1999. Surviving are sons: Michael & wife LiJuan Whitman, and Gary & wife Carol Whitman. He also leaves six grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. Also brothers Clare Whitman, Phillip Whitman, sister Alice Diehl, and a host of extended family and friends.
