Iris Annie Smith of Flint age 90 died Tuesday February 1, 2011 at Sterling House, Davison. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday February 5, 2011 at the Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Rev. Maurice Horne, and Rev. Karen Williams officiating. Private burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 5-8 pm Thursday and 12-3 and 5-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions in Iris's memory to the Lincoln Park Methodist Church. Iris was born in Cornwall England on May 4, 1920 the daughter of W. Thomas and Rhoda (Thomas) Bowden and has resided in the Flint area most of her life. She was joined in marriage to Edwin Smith November 22, 1941 and he preceded her in death in December 1988. Iris was a member of Lincoln Park Methodist Church, Flint. She leaves to cherish her memory children: Dennis & wife Janice Smith of Otisville, James Smith of Florida, Marilyn and husband Mark Mendelson of California, and daughter in law: Dee Smith of Clio. Grandchildren: Erin Smith, Eric (Suzanne) Smith, Rebecca Smith, Jeni (Chris) Riendeau, Cyndi (Don) Head, Ben (Katie) Murray, and several great grandchildren. Brothers: Norman and wife Chris Bowden, Art and wife Gloria Bowden, Sister Eileen McComb and a host of other relatives. She is preceded in death by son Larry in 2003.
