Howard Spinney, of Davison, age 85 peacefully passed away on Sunday April 25, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5073 Daly Blvd., Genesee Township, Pastor Gary L. Beck and Gevan Spinney officiating. Family will receive visitors 5 – 8 on Wednesday and 1-4 and 6 – 8 Thursday. Those desiring may make contribution to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Howard always had a joke or a story to tell. His vivid memories of Germany when in the Army made you feel you were there with him. His sense of humor was second to none. You never knew when to take him serious - right up to the very end. He loved to fish and hunt, and he loved to golf. His hobbies were woodworking and making birdhouses. Howard loved to play poker, so he taught his family to play. He truly enjoyed winning their money. He loved having his family around him, and the more friends they brought, the better. Howard lost Ginnie, his best friend and wife of 65 years just six months ago. They are now reunited - and probably getting ready to tee off.
Howard is survived by son: Larry (Brenda); daughters: Christine Bowen, Roxanne (Larry Kelly), Jennifer Fracalossi (Todd), and Laurie Poirier (James). 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; brothers: Gene and Melvin Spinney, and faithful friend Duane Helmer. He is preceded by wife Virginia "Ginnie' and son Timothy.
