Henry Clay Martin age 92, Born in Stanton Kentucky May 25, 1918 completed his journey to the Kingdom of God July 10, 2010. He was married to Bernice for 54 years, who preceded him on the journey March 14, 1999. Henry is survived by son Kenneth, daughter in law Bonnie and granddaughter Kelsey, all of Goodrich.
Henry served in the U.S. Army from November 1941 to August 1945; 2 years and 7 months were in the Asiatic-Pacigic Theater. Henry worked at the Detriot Automotive Tank Command as an experimental technician shortly after returning from WW II until 1964 when he was transferred to Ft. Riley KS and subsequently to Ft. Hood TX where he was an Automotive Instructor and Technical Service Liaison to the Army. Henry retired in 1971 and traveled extensively with Bernice, even returning to his overseas WW II assignment locations. Henry was an avid pilot, hunter, fisherman and gun collector. In 2001 Henry returned to Michigan to be near his son and family.
A celebration of Henry's life will be held at Goodrich United Methodist Church, Saturday July 31, 2010 at 11:30am with a luncheon to follow.
