Helen Enogene Thomas of Royal Oak, age 82, died Monday September 26, 2011 at Brian's House Hospice. Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday October 8, 2011 at the Grace Baptist Church 280 E. Lincoln, Birmingham, Dr. Charles J. Whitfield officiating, with inurnment at White Chapel Cemetery. Helen was born in Huntington West Virginia on October 4, 1928 the daughter of the late; Thomas & Beulah (Billups) DeVore, and has resided in Royal Oak since 1954. She was joined in marriage to Edward Thomas on October 21, 1948 and he preceded her in death November 24, 1996. She was a member of VFW Post 1669 Ladies Auxiliary, and had attended Grace Baptist Church of Birmingham. She leaves to cherish her memory children; Kathy and husband Darrell Hagar,Karen Bicham,Kenneth & wife Shari Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Kurtis & wife Susan Thomas, Kris Thomas, and Marilyn & husband Nicholas Kennedy. Twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by grandson, James Kennedy brothers, Thomas DeVore Jr, Robert DeVore, and sister, Maxine McConnell.
