Age 92, died Monday, May 18, 2015 at Genesys Regional Medical Center with his daughters by his side. Visitation is planned for 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Hansen Funeral Home in Davison. Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday June 15, 2015 with Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, from March 7, 1941 through March 5, 1947. He served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate First Class throughout World War II. Harry was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America for over 50 years. He began as a helper to his carpenter father, learning to build and prepare job estimates. Most of his working career he was employed by and retired from E & L Construction Company.
Harry married Mary Cannon in 1948. She preceded him in death in 2011 after 62 years of marriage. In his retirement Harry enjoyed reading, baking pies and cookies and watching his favorite sports teams, the Detroit Tigers and Lions. He especially enjoyed frequent visits from his children, sisters, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed a special bond with frequent visits by great-grandson, Kyle.
Harry is survived by his four children, Marcia (Gary) Clark, Daniel (Sheree) Shaw, Pamela Klein, Daren Shaw, grandchildren, Roxanne Shaw, Lorna Klein, Brie Clark and Ricky Shaw, and five great-grandchildren.
