Harry John Delong

Harry John Delong 88, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother of Lapeer, Michigan (formally of Davison and Boyne City) passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026 in Columbiaville, Michigan at Brownstone Manor.

Harry was born on February 25, 1938 in Lapeer, Michigan the son of Erle Clare Delong, and Clara Mar Forbush. Harry and his large family lived on the family’s dairy farm on Higley Road in Lapeer. Harry attended Lapeer High School and was a graduate of the class of 1958. On June 22, 1964 in Lapeer, Harry married Susan Kay Judd; together they had 2 children David and Brenda. They later divorced and on October 24, 1980 in Davison, Harry married Karen Miller gaining 2 bonus daughters Sheri and Cindy. Harry and Karen shared 45 wonderful years until Karen’s passing on October 21, 2025. Harry worked for GM Flint Truck and Bus for 30 years before retiring and moving to Boyne City, where he and Karen lived for many years making many cherished memories with their family. Harry loved gardening, hunting, snowmobiling, boating, and attending the Delong family Charismas parties, and being with family, but he loved being father, and grandfather the most. Harry spent a lot of his retire life snowmobiling with family and friends. He also did a lot of tinkering on his property, cutting wood and hunting in Boyne City with his son David.

Harry will be deeply missed by his children: David (Debbie) Delong of Imlay City, Brenda Fifield of Imlay City; stepdaughters: Sheri (Earl) Tate of Goodrich, and Cindy (Rory) Sayers of Davison; chosen daughter: Nicole Braun of Chicago, Illinois; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren; sister: Helen (Dean) Goodrich of Attica and host extended family and friends. Harry is preceded in death by his wife: Karen Delong; son in law: Larry Fifield; grandparents: John Delong and Ella Spears, and Abraham Forbush; parents: Earle Delong, and Clara Forbush; 5 brothers and their spouses: Walter (Phyllis) Delong, Donald (Retha) Delong, Vern (Flossie) Delong, Howard (Sharon) Delong, and Floyd (Sandy) Delong; 2 sisters and their spouses: Lucille (Frank) Bliss, and Evelyn (Walter) Faulds, and infant sister: Marion Ruth Delong.

A funeral services will be held on Friday May 8, 2026 at 1:00pm at Hansen Funeral Home Downtown Davison. Pastor Scott Salo officiating, with private burial at Stiles Cemetery in Mayfield Township, Michigan. Family will receive visitors Friday at the funeral home from 11:00am until time of service.
