Harold L. "Pops" Hunt of Davison age 81 passed away Sunday December 6, 2009 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday December 9, 2009 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel Downtown Davison. Pastor Jack Dowden officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memorial Cemetery, Lapeer, Michigan. Family will receive visitors on Tuesday December 8, 2009 from 2-9pm at the funeral home and Wednesday from 10:00am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesys Hospice Care Center or DaVita Dialysis of Davison and Grand Blanc. Harold was born on June 21, 1928 in Clare, Michigan the son of the late Floyd and Sarah (Buckley) Hunt. Answering the call of his country Harold joined the Army where he served during the Korean War. On June 17th, 1950 Harold married his loving wife, Doreen Job, they resided in Flint, until moving to Richfield Township in 1961. He worked 30 years for General Motors in the Buick Motor Division, and started what is now Hunt Farms, Inc. "Pops" was a Farm Bureau Member, and won several awards including, the 2005 Farm Bureau Distinguished Service to Agriculture, and "Conservation Farmer of the Year" in 1989 and 2008, from the Geneses County Soil and Water Conservation Services District. He loved farming, gardening, tending to his cats and chickens, eating lots of popcorn, hanging out with "The boys", riding around the farm on his "pony", driving his Lincoln, but most of all gambling! Harold is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doreen, 2 sons, William and wife Glenda Hunt of Davison, Michael and wife Gale Hunt of Lake Odessa. 1 grandson, William Parks of Davison, 2 granddaughters Michelle and husband Chris Stoneburner of Big Rapids, Geneen of Lake Odessa; 2 great grandchildren, Aaron, and Alexis Stoneburner; 1 brother Harland "Bud" Hunt of St. John, 1 sister, Grace Brigner of Tok, Alaska; 2 sisters-in-law, Joan Scrivener of Davison, Betty Bohy, of Barryton; special relatives Ann and Mark Warren; dear friends, Frank and Nadene Wolcott of Durand, Bill and Doris Thurlow of Davison, "The Boys" from Hunt Farms, plus numerous friends from the Davison area. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff of Genesys Hospice Care Center, Genesys Regional Medical Center, Genesys Convalescent Center, DaVita Dialysis of Davison and Grand Blanc, Dr. Suresh Gupta, Dr. Ali Mohammed, and a very special Thank You to caregiver Brooke Hajek.
