Obituary

Gerald Eldon Godfrey of Davison, age 77, died Friday November 5, 2021 at Stonegate Health Campus, Lapeer. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm Wednesday November 10, 2021 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Rev. Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating: with private burial in Davison Cemetery at a later date. Family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm Wednesday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Gerald's memory to the family'

Gerald was born in Flint Michigan on June 7, 1944 the son of the late Eldon & Vivian (Klinger) Godfrey and has resided in the Davison area the last fifty years. He was joined in marriage to Mary Jo Atkinson on December 16, 1967 and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2010. Gerald was a member of the Masonic Rite, Mt. Morris Lodge 535 F&AM, and Davison Odd Fellows, Vernon Lodge 400. He had been an active member with is his wife Mary Jo for numerous years with the Genesee County 4H. Gerald was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating with his family. He had been employed by General Motors Truck & Bus Division for thirty years retiring in 1987.

Surviving are his children: Kristina and Matthew Johnston, Donald Godfrey, Robert Godfrey and Lori and Kirk Nowicki.  He also leaves his seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, brothers: Roger Godfrey, Kim Godfrey, and a host of extended family and friends.
