George William Briggs of Genesee Twp, age 73 died Wednesday August 17, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. A gathering time will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday evening at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Gardens at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions in George's memory to the charity of your choice. George was born in Royal Oak, Michigan June 24, 1938 the son of the late; George M. and Dorotha (Delbridge) Briggs, and had resided in the Flint area most of his life. He was joined in marriage to Judy Wersel in 1960 and she prceded him in death in 1994. George married Doloris Schafer in 1996. Answering the call of his country George served in the US Army and was a member of Local UAW 599. He had been employed by General Motors, Buick Division for thirty years retiring 1997. He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Doloris, children, George Jr. & Cathy Briggs , Gerald & Nealy Briggs, Brenda & Chris Smith, AJ & Stacy Briggs, Michael Briggs and fiancee Rachel, Kim & Terry Lovaas, and Chuck Rigoulot.
