Genevieve M. 'Jennie" Shorey-Marien of Davison, age 94, died Saturday July 16, 2016 at Ferguson Convalescent Center, Lapeer. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday July 26, 2016 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Chaplin David Gerber officiating. Private burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 10:00 am Tuesday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in Jennie's memory to Heart to Heart Hospice or to the charity of your choice. Genevieve was born in Flushing Michigan on September 15, 1921 the daughter of the late: Frank & Catherine (Vasicek) Zarnick, and has resided in the Davison area most of her life. She was joined in marriage to Louis Marien in 1939 and he died in 1943, she married Arthur Shorey Sr. in 1945 and preceded her in death in 1955. She married Earl Marien in 1957 and he died in 1994. She was a member of Davison Rebecca Lodge, Past President of Davison Business & Professional Women, and had been very active in numerous school activities over the years. Jennie owned and operated Marien Brothers Hardware with her husband Earl until her retirement. Jennie was also the inspiration to start and maintain the gift shop located in the Hardware which was an important part of shopping in Downtown Davison. She is survived by son Bill & Sue Shorey, her grandchildren: Steve Marien, Shari & Ronnie Besher, Chris & Becky Shorey, Scott & Tara Shorey, and her loving great grandchildren Bailey, Cullen, Mackenzie, Addison, Cassie, and Allie. She also leaves sisters; Mildred Garfield, Mary & Bill Stone, daughter-in-law Judy Marien, sister-in-law Wanda Zarnick, and a host of other relatives.
