Francis Leonard "Mike" O'Connor of Davison age 89 died Tuesday June 1, 2010 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held at 11; 00 a.m. Friday June 4, 2010 at the Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison, Chaplin Bob Easlick officiating, with private burial at a later date. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions in Mike's memory to the Davison Eagles Charity Fund. Francis was born in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan September 17, 1920, the son of the late; Michael and Alice (Avery) O'Connor and was a resident of Davison most of his life. He married Dorothy Cole on December 22, 1951 in Napoleon, Ohio. Answering the call of his country Francis served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy during WW II, during which time he became a Lieutenant Commander. He worked in supervision at General Motors, Fisher Body Grand Blanc location for thirty-eight years. He was a member of Davison Eagles #3589, Davison Country Club, and the Elks. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, gardening, animals, and travel. He was known as "The Perfect Gentleman", his great kindness and warmth will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. Surviving is wife, Dorothy, sisters: Alice Crocker and Shirley Yates. Children; Jennifer and husband Daniel Mousseau of Unionville, Candi and husband Ron Welch of Burton, Kevin and wife Jennifer O'Connor of Tennessee, Dianne Cole of Tennessee, Gary Cole and Susan James of Otisville. Grandchildren: Gardener Hilgendorf (Cole), Heidi Garceau, Scott Hilgendorf, Stefan Hilgendorf, Jashua Welch, Jason Dodd, Jodi Fieraband, Gina Weigman, Zachary O'Connor, Chelsea O'Connor, and Chloe O'Connor. Great grandchildren: Kingston Cole, Kaylee Hilgendorf, Garrett Hilgendorf, Karli Garceau, Jared Garceau, Madison Welch, Cole Wiegman, Marina Byrd, Lydia Fieraband, Perry Fieraband, one great grandchild by choice, Hannah James, special niece Rilla Jo and husband Fred Halberg. He is preceded in death by sisters: Margaret VanCampen, and Cora Johnson. The family would like to express our greatest appreciation for the special care, love and devotion given by Wendy Robbins, Tina Duff , Susan James and Grace Hospice.
