Frances C.Skellenger.of Davison & Lapeer, age 84 died Sunday December 5, 2010 at Genesys Convalescent Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday December 9, 2010 at the Davison Free Methodist Church 502 Church St. Davison. Pastor Brad Button officiating. Burial in Davison Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm Tuesday and 1-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Frances will lie in state at the church from 10:00 am Thursday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in her memory to the charity or your choice. Frances was born in Howell, Michigan July 21, 1926 the daughter of the late; Harold and Clara (Washburn) Shafer and has resided in the Davison-Lapeer area most of her life. She was joined in marriage to Charles Skellenger July 19, 1947 and he preceded her in death May 24, 2002. Mrs. Skellenger was a member of Davison VFW Auxiliary #4087 and had been employed by Wheelock Memorial Hospital in Goodrich retiring in 1990. She leaves to cherish he memory, daughters: Mary Ann and husband Gale Johnson, and Carol Ann Timm. Grandchildren: Melissa Timm & husband Brian Cook, and Benjamin Skellenger Brothers: Harold and Roberta Shaffer, and Larry Shafer. Sisters Maxine McArthur and Darlene Smith, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by son, Donald L. Skellenger in May 2008, Brother Bruce Shafer and Sister Shirley Shaffer.
